Chocolate and fruit cake
A groom’s cake  is a traditional wedding cake associated with the American South. While a wedding cake is often adorned with white and light textures or colors, the groom’s cake can take a variety of forms like a chocolate or a fruit cake depending on the grooms interests. Cheesecake can also be used as a groom’s cake. The grooms cake reflects the grooms  interests, hobbies, favorite sports, alma mater, profession, or anything else he enjoys. It is often served at a separate table from the wedding cake at a wedding reception, though it may be served as a dessert for a rehearsal dinner.

Here are some ideas for the groom’s cakes according to the interests of the  groom:

A groom’s cake is a smaller cake which is served to all of the unmarried girls at the wedding reception. An old  wives tale associated with the groom’s cake is that if the unwedded girl takes the piece of cake home and places it under her pillow when going to sleep at night she will dream of her future husband.

Earlier it was the grooms mother who baked the cake, but things have changed with the passage of time. Though a grooms cake is supposed to be smaller than a wedding cake, gradually it has aquired an elaborate and spectacular form. The grooms cake is created in order to appeal the groom’s taste  hence the flavor and filling should be chosen accordingly. There have been several great designs for grooms cake like footballs, cowboy boots, a six-pack of beer and even a tackle box.
You can also be very traditional and yet classy while  designing  and styling your grooms cake with chocolate dipped strawberries made to resemble mini-tuxedos or layers of chocolate fondant and decorate it beautifully.

Serving the grooms cake as a dessert on the wedding reception is not a necessitity. It entirely depends on the couple whether they are willing to include the grooms cake and thereby the extra cost of the cake into the wedding budget. There is one way by which you can save the cost while including the groom’s cake is to have it packed up and distrbute it at wedding favors at the end of the wedding evening.
