Avoid wearing a transparent shirt for a formal dress up. Instead wear a shirt made of thick fabric. Choose a proper quality shirt even if you have to pay some extra money for it.  As far as the colour of the shirt is concerned dont pick showy colours like red, green or purple. These colours are not meant for  formal occasion. Pick a pure white shirt for a formal interview or meeting as it is considered to be the safest colour. In case of a less formal occasion like an official party you can choose pastel colours like off white, cream, light blue etc. Striped shirts can also be worn for formal occasions however checks are not considered formal.  If you are unsure of  the striped shirt look then choose a plain shirt. One of the most important things to consider is the size of the shirt. Make sure you pick a shirt with a perfect fitting. It should be neither too tight nor too loose. Before purchasing try the shirt once to check that it fits well.

Pants
The colour of the pant should be lighter in shade. The pants should be perfcetly fitting. Lighter shade doesn’t mean that you have pick pale shdeas. For pants choose standard colours like light brown, off white. Its  good idea to avoid wearing pure white pants.

Shoes and socks
The shoe colour depends upon your belt. Black and brown are the standard colors for belts. Belt is a must for a formal occasion.
