While planning a wedding most people give a lot of importance to their wedding dress, accessories, reception hall, catering, music, flowers and then at last pay attention to their wedding cake.
Even though the wedding cake is an integral part of the wedding and will be remembered by your guest for a long time people think about their cake at length. If you want to find a stunning cake do a little research work beforehand.
Go through myriad wedding magazines to get a good idea of the style and design you will prefer. Once you have selected a design or two start looking for a baker or cake designer. However if you dont know any cake designer or baker ask for help. There are many people who will be willing to help you find the right cake designer. In fact your caterer or reception hall manager may provide you with several good cake designers with whom they must have worked in the past.
When you have the list of bakers, call them up and fix an appointment for a meeting. All this should be done at least four to six months in advance of the wedding day.
When you meet the baker or cake designer make sure you tell him all the details about the cake you would like to have :
Select the cake design; take picture of the chosen cake
The size or number of tiers depend on your guest list
Frosting may include butter cream, fondant, royal, etc
Taste a sample and then decide on the flavors and fillings that they can provide
Choose accents and toppers like fresh flowers, beading, traditional topper, etc
Find out the cost of the cake and delivery charges
You can also ask the baker as to how the cake will be made like – will the cake be baked on the wedding day or beforehand and frozen?
What are the ingredients that will be used?
Is it possible for them to make allergy free cakes
Are they certified by the Department of Health and Agriculture?
Dont engage a baker until and unless you are completely satisfied with a baker. After all it is the most important occasion of your life and the wedding cake should be absolutely stunning.
