Envelopes for wedding invitation

Sending wedding invitations to guests is an important part of planning a wedding. However its not all about choosing a wedding invitation card, couples should know how to address the wedding invitation envelopes properly. The wedding invitation etiquette requires couples to address the envelopes acordingly as some guests may feel insulted if they are not properly addressed.

There are different ways in which you can address your guests depending upon their status.

Double Envelopes for the wedding Invitations

Usually wedding invitations are enclosed in two envelopes. The wedding invitation is placed into an “inner” envelope, which in turn is placed in an “outer” envelope. Using two envelopes protects the invitation from any damage that might occur during the mailing process. However with an inner envelop the invitation remains protected and the guests receive a clean envelope. The outer envelope may get dirty during the delivery so the guests remove and throw the outer envelope and keep the card placed in the inner envelope. The outer envelope has the full names and titles of the invitees and the address and the inner envelop has only the names of the guests.

If there are children in the family then their names are listed from the older to the youngest after their parents name on the outer envelope. If you do not wish children to attend your wedding then its better to exclude their names from the inner and outer envelope.

Individuals with proffesional titles should  have their names listed first irerspective of their gender. If the invitees include unmarried couples then invitation should be addressed to the person you know well, irerspective of their gender.

Single Envelopes the Wedding Invitations

Couples usually prefer one envelope for wedding invitations with an  attempt to save paper and money. Its a reasonable choice as most contemporary wedding invitations are made of thicker cardstocks and folded which protects the cards from any damage. One envelope is used to print the name and address of invitees.

Who should be invited?
If a family has teenagers above sixteen years of age then you are required to send them a separate invitation from their parents even if they are living with their parents. The bridal party should also be given wedding invitation. You cannot afford to save money here.

Method of print
The right way to address invitation cards is to personally write down the names and addresses of each invitee on the invitation. Though this is a time consuming process, it makes your guests feel special. Most couples engage a calligrapher to address their wedding invitation envelopes as it gives a beautiful touch to your invitations and saves the bride from investing time in writing the cards manually. Hiring a calligrapher maybe expensive. Another option would be to ask your wedding invitation company to print the guests addresses on the envelope if they offer such services. Yet another option to address invitation cards is using clear labels that are stuck on the envelope. This has become a popular method as it is cost  effective and convenient.
